The grandeur of the natural landscape—and particularly the cityscape—has always been of special interest in Staley’s photography. It is his lone area of discipline in the still-life image.

In contrast to his action images and extensive work with people, these images exhibit an understanding for the simple geometry of the landscape and for the sentinent power of a skyline.

In the sometimes-digital manipulation of these still-life images, his feel as a landscaper morphs with a psychedelic touch of the surreal.
